Dr. James C. Kroll,
Director
- Dr. Kroll is best known for his work with white-tailed
deer throughout the United States. He is the author of ten
books, five videos, has a regular presentation on the Fox
Outdoors Network and writes for 38 outdoor magazines. A
distinguished graduate of Texas A&M University, he came
to SFA in 1973 to develop a wildlife teaching and research
program. He was awarded the highest honor possible for a
SFA professor, the Regents' Professorship and is an Alumni
Association Distinguished Professor.

Paul R. Blackwell, Information Scientist
- An experienced businessman and computer scientist, Mr.
Blackwell is a recognized authority in geographic information
systems and has served as a computer systems scientist at
SFA for many years. He is well known among state, federal
and private GIS scientists as an innovative and pragmatic
individual with a long track record of accomplishment. He
holds a bachelor's degree in computing systems technology,
along with a master's degree in forestry, geography and
agriculture.

Susan Henderson, Research Associate,
Geographic Information Systems
- Ms. Henderson supervises FRI's GIS operations. Her experience
includes over three years as GIS Project Leader for the
Orange County GIS Consortium. Ms. Henderson earned her B.G.
S degree with concentrations in geography, business and
communications. After graduating summa cum laude
from the University of Texas - Tyler, she held positions
at UT-Tyler and Geo/Info, Inc. in Tyler, Texas. Ms. Henderson
has also instructed entry level courses in GIS at Lamar
University - Orange.

Donna Lipschutz, Administrative Assistant
- Ms. Lipschutz oversees the day-to-day office management
for the institute. She brings over six years of secretarial
and administrative experience to the FRI from her years
in the public and private sectors. Ms. Lipschutz earned
her BS degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State
University.

Jimmi Fischer Rushing, Research
Associate, Information Specialist
- Ms. Rushing provides the critical function of overseeing
activities relating to information gathering, a primary
mission of FRI. She holds bachelor's degree in biology and
English from SFA, along with a master's in library science
from the University of North Texas. She has distinguished
herself in the emerging field of information science. Her
primary duty at FRI is to develop and support the FRIS database.

Jason Grogan, Research Associate, Forest
Measurements
- Mr. Grogan provides primary field support to the Forest
Monitoring and Measurements Research Group. He has a bachelor
of science degree in forest management from SFA, with an
emphasis in forest pest management. He has experience working
with more than 400 non-industrial private landowners in
Arkansas.

Terry Corbett, Jr. Research
Technician, Forest Measurements
- Mr. Corbett is jointly employed by the FRI Forest Measurements
Team and Dr. Jimmie Yeiser. He holds a Bachelor of Science
in Forest Management, with a minor in Business from SFA
and brings with him a wealth of experience with forest and
vegetation management research. Mr. Corbett provides primary
field support and supervision for field activities of the
Forest Measurements Team and Dr. Yeiser's research projects.

Lee Piwetz, SA, Web Development/Database
Assistant

Mr.
Piwetz is a SFA undergraduate from Houston, Texas. He
is seeking a BS in Computer Science, with a minor in business.
Currently he maintains the FRI Web Site as well as works
on database oriented programming.

Henderson, SA, GIS Assistant

Mr.
Henderson is an undergraduate liberal arts student. His
duties include geospatial data processing, personal computer
technical support, image processing, project design and
software analysis.

Jeff
Williams, Contractor
Mr. Williams returned to Stephen F. Austin State University
after many years working in the private environmental consulting
industry in Austin. He also served for several years as
a geospatial scientist for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's
Resource Protection Division, and he was instrumental in
establishing the U.S. Geological Survey's National Biological
Information Infrastructure presence in Texas. Jeff is a
geospatial scientist who specializes in remote sensing and
GIS application development for natural resource monitoring
and management.
