Internet Map Services (IMS) provide
access to the power of geospatial technology from the comfort
of an ordinary web browser. The Forest Resources Institute
(FRI) is developing a number of map services based to the
extensive data archives maintained at the FRI facilities on
the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. There are
two types of services available here: Internet Mapping Applications,
and Streaming feature services. Map applications are designed
to be accessed with a web browser and to fulfill a specific
purpose or job. Streaming feature services are designed to
be accessed from GIS client software such are ArcGIS and can
be used for many purposes.
